in response to mom e of 4... Dear mom e of 4,
I am a mommy of 4 myself, three are "technically"grown and one is 14 years old. I am actually asking for your advice.
We (my husband and I ) were well off, one year ago. We never had to really worry about money at all. However, the money was my husbands from inheritance, and I was raised by a single mother of seven ( you get the picture, I'm sure).
Well, the long and short of it is this... we are now totally penniless. My husband lost everything in the stock market (all of it!). I was such an idiot! He had 100% control of all funds, since the money was "his"... I was an at home mother, for most of our marriage.
Now, I thankfully found a job, but he (being 58 years old, and never working for anyone but himself) has been searching for a "regular" job - slim pickings where we live, and along with his age .... I am sick with worry. He has one family member that has been "helping" us , but believe me, he was in tears (really) during one call to this person, because our utilities were due to be shut off. This person is his only living relative, and my family has never, would never and could never help us. Sad, sad, fact.
My job, should pay more, and I'm hopeful for a pending promotion, but even still.. my income isn't enough. I was thinking of starting a business ( I almost started a few years ago, but chickened out, to be honest with you).
I need to find a web site for government grants for women in business, being a woman and obviously more wise than I am.. do you have any idea where I could look?
